SWIMMING DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR THE YOUTH
Quezon City, though land bounded, suffers from flooding in majority of the city’s districts. Every year, Quezon City became the most flooded city in NCR. School Classes are always affected because of flooding and a significant number of barangays are always subjected to flooding thus requires rescue and assistance from the local government.
Drowning is a serious threat to health. An estimated 400,000 people drown every year. Population projections mean that the problem is going to get worse. With this, the youth is most vulnerable because majority of them do not know how to swim. Additionally, in 2019, WHO wants the inclusion of mandatory swimming and rescue subjects in the Philippines’ K-12 school curriculum. QC Waves Swim Club recognized the need for our youth, in particular the indigent sector, to learn survival swimming. This is a life skill that should be taught to our young ones. Swimming will definitely give them the chance to save lives. It is the intention of our QC Waves Swim Club to turn non-swimmers into swimmers and swimmers into lifesavers. The worst floods that hit Quezon City has also encouraged QC Waves Swim Club to design the following swim programs for Quezon City youth; Learn-To-Swim program, Competitive Swimming training program, Survival Swimming program, and School-Curriculum Swimming assisted program.
